Hi Cathy,

Great to hear from you. So glad that Manu is looking for a job close to home. I still have Sophie at home and now Julie is back from Australia it is really nice to be all together. Even if they are out most of the time!

Cheers,

Sheila

Hi Cathy, A friend recently gave us a copy of your Asian Tales and Tellers. Wish we had discovered it sooner. A remarkable book with great advice and wonderful stories that respect the cultures. We tell twice a year at a Taoist "camp" in Dallas with children from several Asian cultures. We are often used as a bridge between the parents who want to maintain the old ways and their children who are growing up wanting to be like their American friends. We will be keeping your book at the top of the stack. --Peggy

Sheila, great to be back in touch. How is Kiran? I had a great catch-up email before I went to NZ in June. We're all fine - actually all together for a while (Manu has finished college and is jobhunting near the "old folks" - Hooray. ) I'm probably off to India and Korea in winter (to tell and to do some Ayurvedic treatments). All the very best to you, Rose, and other friends in S'pore. Cathy

Hi Cathy,

Nice to see you here. It's been ages since we've connected. Too long!

I'm fine, taking life a little easier now and enjoying it and my storytelling more. Missing Kiran lots though.

Love
Sheila

Dear Cathy:

Welcome to Professional Storyteller. I absolutely love your work in storytelling. My mother is from the Philippines and I have a very strong interest in Asian culture and stories. My upcoming book is "Tangram Tales" based on the ancient Chinese puzzle of tangrams. I wish you the best and hope you continue your amazing and groundbreaking work.

Warmly,

About Me:
I started telling tales after watching Indian storytellers hold large audiences for nightlong sessions. Since then, for almost thirty years, I’ve given storytelling performances and workshops in schools, libraries, museums, and more across the U.S. and Asia. Funding from The Japan Foundation, The Korea Foundation, U.S.I.A., U.S. Department of State, Singapore’s National Library, and others has helped me to collect and share Asian tales, and to meet hundreds of storytellers across Asia.

From my storytelling come sixteen books, along with storytelling tapes, CDs, and articles in anthologies, encyclopedias, and journals. I have an amazing son, Manu, and live with my husband, Indian sculptor Paramasivam, on Vashon Island near Seattle and in Cholamandal Artists’ Village, South India.
