Professional Storyteller is a network for people who work in the field of oral storytelling. Please write a brief paragraph about your work.
I have been telling stories since i was I a young girl. Every night i put my little sister to sleep with many many stories. Then I became a preschool teacher, where in I told stories to my children everyday!

When I became a mother, I realised the best time i spent with my son, was the times we read together, I could see how much he enjoyed it! Now this has become my profession, I am here to share and learn and create awareness about the art to one and all!

I am contacting you because I see that you are based in India and invite you to join our group on www.storygardenz.com, which is a project about special places with a special story and a living voice. Storygardenz are preferably residential for two reasons (1) because a period of days and nights are needed to slow people down, and metabolize the story, and change their perspective (2) to connect storytelling with the tourist industry to promote its value and also to help generate revenue.

The project began in Italy with our own Storygardenz (RVS and Bel Poggiolo) and spread to Great Britain and other countries. A number of institutions have joined the project (eg. the Ruskin Foundation/Brantwood and the Italian Ministry of Culture). But we have nothing in India.

I have published one book on these themes and 2 more next year. A U.S. full feature film (“Going DA-DO”) has just been completed on this project and my work and will be beginning at the Sundance Festival.

Please write to me if you would like to be involved and I will tell you more.

Yours,

Bernard (Dado) Anson Silj

Welcome, Shreedevi!
Eric Miller's work in India is showing as you & other students of his join us here. It's great to have you join us. You might also want to search for others in India. There's an easy way to do this by going to the Members section & putting IN or India in the search box. One thing may be confusing: because IN is also the abbreviation for the state of Indiana here in the U.S., you will also find some from there, too. As the number from India grows, perhaps you will wish to have a group created specifically for your area?
While our network is called Professional Storyteller, it's a journey open to all of us who love storytelling.
Happy networking!
