Share a Story - Change the World
I'm writing a storytelling-based novella, working on my fifth draft. The process is exciting to me! I've written lots of short stories, as well as newspaper stories, but I've never written anything this lengthy before. (However, at 24,000 words it's short when compared with the average novel.)
It's a framing story with numerous internal stories, most of them stand-alone tales adaptable for oral performance. I've performed some of them already.
The idea came from my short story,…

The following is a section of my review of the Jaipur Literature Festival from my blog.
Later that evening we had the highlight of the festival for me so – Gharfuddin Mewati telling a section of a version of the Mahabharata from Pakistan. There were five people in total, Mewati doing the telling, his grandson was on stage – obviously training up to take over one day - there was a man to…

I can often be heard saying that there are no new tales in the world and we storytellers simply grow new corn from old fields. We take those old tales and make them our own. We impose our culture and our beliefs on them and in that way they travel around the world. Don't Count Your Chickens is a story that is a good example of this, because it is an ancient tale…

Too Much?
Well it's Friday and uploaded video day. Today's story is titled: "Candy Bars". And it has taken me most of the day in between routes to accomplish uploading just part of it and I'm still not done. The next thing to do is to gather the data to promote. And that's going to take some time. Oh woe with me, what shall I do.
In order to have…

Snow Day 5
Well the honeydews did come. With this snow of course there needed to be shoveling and I had my task to do mainly discovering where my car was. There was no snow plow that it come down our street until late in the evening. So now I have to go back out in the morning and dig out a path into the street so that I can get to work.
And what time I…

Snow Day 4
Boy did the stories fly about how slick the streets were. It was unexpected, but acceptable, seeing as I had no choice. The streets are so slick that nothing could travel on them so we ended up with a snow day. It was a drizzle that froze on the streets.
It came in handy in the sense that I was able to finish this week's project. That is this…

Blessed Day
Got up this morning as if I was going to work and proceeded to get some things done, some things around the house, and then finally some things on to the computer.
I was able to video the next parable story today, as well as another story called “Hunting Wolf” which was a short story that I remembered. Then I was able to get on the computer and…

Catching Up Again
I can not say the time has flown by, because actually it is gone by at its usual pace but I had so many other things to do in that time that it was difficult to sit down and make out my blog entry for the day.
I was able to make it home in between routes on Friday, but complications that prevented me from doing a lot. Then Friday evening,…

Snow Day = Opportunity.
I'm getting into this snow day routine, almost liking working at my computer all day long. And having a camera to practice my Storytelling and see how I'm doing is quite helpful in developing technique. Having the time to figure out what I need as far as stories, editing video and stories is actually kind of nice.
That's where the…

Being Flexible
Can I tell you the Story of my day? I am a Storyteller you know.
I started the day sleeping in because I got to bed later than normal knowing today was a Snow Day. Although I did want to get as much done as I could before dawn. There was much to do if I got the chance:
1. I had to be sure that the fuel for my blimp was in order.
2.…

Best Laid Plans
Well today started out as a normal work day, but I got the word through Facebook that it was a Snow Day for the school district and being a School Bus Driver that means no work for today. So I set about, since I was up early anyway, to figure out what I was going to do today. And sure enough, the best laid plans have gone astray, because the wife…

Resistance
When I was taking Sign Language Interpreters Training several years ago. The first thing the instructor came in and said was 'Of all the things that an interpreter had to be, is to be flexible'. On day nine that was true.
I had full intentions to video this week's story so that I could edit it and get a good start on getting it out with…

Article Websites.
Well I got up this morning went out on a trip to deliver the debate team to a competition, came home gathered up the wife, went out to breakfast, went grocery shopping, and by that time it was 11 o'clock in the morning or so. And I was able to finally get around to editing the post from day seven. Now that's my story…

Happy New Year...
...to anyone who is reading this and I wish to Thank You for reading this.
It is interesting what the Lord has has put on my heart to do with Storytelling for advancing His Kingdom. After many years of following what he has told me to do and not being in some of the best positions in my life, I've now been told a definitive ministry of producing a…

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the of another day of storytelling adventures. A day that entailed cleaning up a lot of stuff on the computer so that I can get to where I wanted for putting out the information on the 52 Parables Week 1 Video that was put up yesterday.

Ready For The Web
Well I finally have the first parable videoed, edited and ready to go up on the web. I think I'll have to check it tomorrow to be sure but it is generally all done and ready to post. Now all I have to do is remember all the places I want to post it to.

Still trying to get everything finalized so to speak to know what I'm going to be doing each night of the week figuring that the parable video stories should be each…
