Come to China with Eth-Noh-Tec in September

Hello Storytellers! Nancy and Robert are going to China for the 4th time to share culture and stories with the tellers of Gencun, a rural village with a storytelling tradition of over 600 years.

What does that mean? It means - (I foolishly asked several years ago) - that they tell stories when they wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, walk to work, at work, at lunch, on the way home, at dinner - and one lady added with a grin across her face "Even in bed!"

You will fall in… Continue

2009-2010 School Year

This past school year has led to many invitations as storyteller, I look forward to next year!

I have several grandchildren (ten) so I often have a ready made audience to critique my telling, how cool is that?

I am thrilled to have dates set for next school term, I plan on increasing my reportoir of historical stories to teach in an entertaining way. I enjoy writing my own stories for those, but I also love telling a variety of tellable tales.

FEST: Federation of European Storytelling...August 11-13th, Reading England, come along!!

Hello my fellow story fiends and friends

A great swelling noise is rising, from the heart of Europe. Some years ago storytellers gathered from near and far and asked how they could build a European Community of storytelling. Some wanted more places to work, others wanted to hear what other countries were doing, others simply wanted to connect and grow stronger.

It has tumbled and tossed over the waves of time these last few years and manifested in a great gathering at… Continue

Whose the Fool?

April Fools Day was actually a political tool to force people into compliance. The first day of the year use to be April 1st. When the ruler changed it, people resisted. King decided to belittle and poke fun of those who would not comply and called them April Fools. Some political weapons never go away.

HiStory is always a story that needs to be told.

Denise Valentine is National Storytelling Network mid-atlantic rep for best story

Storyteller, Denise Valentine is National Storytelling Network mid-atlantic rep for best story.

In a lyrical delivery, Denise Valentine, Storyteller, resurrects a time honored Hawaiian folkloric tale. Ms. Valentine’s concept of the story is, at once, hypnotic and captivating, as she expounds on the love affair of the volcanic goddess Oyeye with her male counterpart, Abzu, the ocean. Denise’s compelling portrayal led to her being chosen to represent the Mid-Atlantic Region… Continue
