I'll be hitting the road from Tucson on August 11th, heading east on I-40 toward Pennsylvania through Oklahoma City. From there I'll be taking I-44 through St. Louis, and on to I-70 with plans to be near Indianapolis and Columbus on or around August 19th. Then I plan to head to Pennsylvania for a few days before traveling north to spend a week doing story research in Canada and return to Pennsylvania via Goshen, Indiana. I'll be near Harrisburg, PA from August 31 to September 8 when I leave to…

I am looking for some guidance on how to get started doing "artist in residence" programs. Has anyone written anything on this? I need a step-by-step approach -- who to contact, what to offer, grants available, what to charge...real nuts and bolts. Can anyone help?

I am sharing THIS story in order to help change the world - will you help me?
I watched a film last night at the local pics, which shook me to my core. It was called the Burma VJ Movie.
Its made up of forbidden film clips taken by the rebel photographers of Burma who support fredom from the repressive regime that is in power there.
Burma has been under a dictatorship for 40 years. This…

Thanks,

Today the sky is grey,
and I sat and shouted at it
"Why are you so grey?"
The clouds gave me no answer
and the sun persisted in hiding
behind that grey wet mist.
So I reached up and pulled and pulled
until the sky fell down on my head.
"OK Sky - so there you have it,
NOW look what you've done"
And the sky said…

Someone put
You on a slave block
And the unreal bought
You.
Now I keep coming to your owner
Saying,
"This one is mine."
You often overhear us talking
And this can make your heart leap
With excitement.
Don't worry
I will not let sadness
Possess you.
I will gladly borrow all the gold
I need
To get… Continue

Today I raised my voice and said
"love - its time to come here and hold hands,
we're struggling, pushing our way
through the mud of every day life and there you
sit, just watching and laughing!"
Love turned to me and smiled,
"What do you want of me? All I
have given you, you turn away
and throw down as if rubbish
was more… Continue

You Don't Have to Act Crazy Anymore -
We all know you were good at that.
Now retire, my dear,
From all that hard work you do
Of bringing pain to your sweet eyes and heart.
Look in a clear mountain mirror -
See the Beautiful Ancient Warrior
And the Divine elements
You always carry inside
That infused this Universe with sacred Life
So long ago
And join…

Like many storytellers I like to add a riddle or two to my sessions to add a bit of interest. They are particularly good when waiting for a crowd to arrive. I often use them to set up a particular tale and as a means for an audience to 'earn a story. If they get the riddle right, they get a story or two. If they cannot answer the riddle, they must stay behind till the end, help me pack up and carry all my skins, tent and other stuff back to…

The Mermaid’s Purse
By: Pam Munson Steadman (Lady Amuck, Storyteller), copyright 2004
Once upon a time in the land of nags, pirates, treasure chests, devils, hills, ducks, marshes, beaches, lighthouses and much more, there lived a lovely fair-haired young maiden by the name of Melanie.
Melanie so loved going fishing with her father early each morning. The two of them would get up at dawn and walk down to the edge of the… Continue

It informed me that "after a thorough review of your work, market, and product," my little company, Aslan Productions, has been awarded "Voting Member Status" with The Recording Academy. That's right, the Grammy people.
