A Halloween Gift from Busted Flush, Oklahoma

Halloween is a time of excitement in Busted Flush, a little town about sixty-five years southeast of the Capitol. The Mercantile stocks up on plastic masks, nylon costumes and candy. Children look forward to dressing up and gorging themselves on candy. Mothers stock up on castor oil and Pepto-Bismol in anticipation of post-candy-gorge bellyaches, and Doctor Milton Peabody makes sure his office calendar for the next day has plenty of space for walk-ins.…

Kidney Surgery

Had my right kidney removed on Thursday. Home today (Sunday.) A lot of pain (Vicodin is my new best friend), and a 5 to 8 week recovery time. The people at University of New Mexico Hospital were GREAT to me. Maybe I can use some of the recovery period to btush up on some old stories and get some new ones written down.
