Kamishibai is the tradition of Japanese storytellers that rode bicycles with their story box to tell illustrated stories to children. I will use my bicycle to go to public spaces to tell stories using my photographs in the story box. Stories will be interactive using ventriloquism with puppet characters . Stories will be drawn from personal experience to teach lesson of respect for the natural environment and its creatures.

This is the book cover for the 1990 out-of-print book that I self-published under my former married name: Debbie Rauch. My illustrator was Dusty Araujo.
This story is a piece of historical fiction. The friend of Denise exists only in the author’s imagination. My purpose in writing this story is to promote discussions among school children of an actual event of history. I hope that they will begin to… Continue

I don't even know where to start. But I am dying to tell it and I am dying to read your reactions
Last Friday night, I had a storytelling concert at the Family Resource Center in Warsaw, KY. That's right it is time to turn my attention to 2009. I think you should too. I have already started looking at the holidays... where are they in relationship to the weekends? Thanks to our Congress almost every "one day" holiday is jammed into a Monday. I am compiling my festival list and deciding which ones I want to court and remind myself of which ones are courting me. Where do I want to go again, and which projects do I want to attempt this next year.
So what do I want for… Continue

I fried a mixture of potatoes, peppers, onions, cooked some bacon & eggs, toasted oatmeal bread & a nice glass of orange juice, a huge cup of coffee. Two actually I drank one cup while fixing my meal and then I settled into to my seat to eat it while watching Book C-Span on my little tv. Since I began this site about 2 months ago, it has really grown! Major contributors to the site's growth include Rachel Hedman, Buck Creacy, Sean Buvala, Tim Ereneta, and Tom Taylor. They have been the "backbone" of the site, really contributing and helping Professional Storyteller grow. We're already at 175 as of this date! Thank you so much, my friends. I <3 U!
I would love to see it grow even more ,so I took Buck up on his suggestion to make our goal 250… Continue

On Sunday, March 16, 2008, an article was written about a "Read-Along" sponsored by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the Philippines' largest newspaper, at which I was a guest storyteller. The article, which ran on the front page and about a third of an interior page featured a lot about me. :) Very cool. Though some of the facts are a bit incorrect, the article is still great. (I did not sing "If You're Happy and You Know It" - same tune but my adaptation called "If You Like… Continue
