Mother

When I was an 8year old boy, I was very close to my mother. One night in late April, 1991, my mother and father had gotten into a pretty bad fight. My mother left the house in our '84 Chevelle.

I didn't see her for 3 days. On the 4th night, she came into my room while I was asleep and woke me up. She said she was sorry that she stayed away for so long. She told me how much she loved me and asked about my day. When my dad woke me up for school the next morning, I asked where mom was. He… Continue

Mrs. Thatcher

Cindy Thatcher was 87 years old. She had been a widow for the last 17 of them. She kept Doctors appointment, clipped coupons, and attended Hillside Baptist every Sunday. She was sitting at her worn pine desk, writing her suicide letter. Here is what she wrote:

Dear Friends;

I hope this letter finds you well. I shall be gone by the time you read it. Please don’t be sad or angry at the ending of my life. I assure you, its what I want and what my soul needs now is rest. I am… Continue

A Groovy Quote:- or stuck in a rut with a dragon!!!!!

A Groovy Quote:- or stuck in a rut with a dragon!!!!!

Could this possible be the description of an old vinyl record, as In the Groove.

Of course it could also be the grooves made by the wheels of a cart, or even a scooter, anything really that when travelling through mud forms a groove. When Valcour was at the meeting in the Great Chamber after Baizals death. He left deep grooves with his talons on the table, just before he killed Yodroth.

(The Dragon Lords, Book One,… Continue

FFHL Blog--"Outreach: Transform Solo Piece to Community Art"--posted by Rachel Hedman

A storyteller does not have to be alone. With all the wondrous art forms out in the world, the merging of them brings about something that more than one person can enjoy.

When I attended a workshop by the Utah Arts Council, I already had the idea of asking for who would like to join me in this "Family Famine: Hunger for Love" premiere set for February 9, 2009. With so many months for preparation, what… Continue

Concert Was Yesterday!

What a blast! Eight of us plus accompanists performed a wonderful little free concert in the park yesterday. My "story-song" didn't go quite as well as I rehearsed it or as I've performed it before, and the light was bad for my camera. Still trying to decide whether to post the video because I forgot the words to the first verse and had to laugh and stop before starting again! But, the second time I did it, I didn't like the story/opening as well. So, if you guys don't mind seeing me totally… Continue

Ct. Storytelling Festival

Wow! What a whirlwind weekend. I just couldnt do just the festival but on Friday night started my weekend with a 15 minute show as part of the Tolland Senior Center Variety Show ( Ct. ). I was so impressed they had a large audience and using the new Tolland high school ,the stage, lights and sound system were all brand new and state of the art. What a treat! For my part I went on and was calm and focused and delivered my best performance to date! I did 3 stories in the 15 minutes I was hired… Continue
