The E.U. & You

When I posted my discussion about the E.U. copyright & internet decisions, this would have been a better title.  Now for the news & why we all should continue to pay attention.  (Please read the discussion to see why this affects the…

Death of Professional Storyteller (network) Founder, Dianne de Las Casas

The storytelling world and especially those of us at Professional Storyteller are numb with surprise and grief over the loss of Dianne de Las Casas to a…

A to Z, Puppets Are Easy!

I just posted a blog about the Great Lakes Regional Puppet Festival at my personal blog, Storytelling + Research = LoiS, about the workshop I'll be doing (along with information on other workshops).  It may help others decide to come to the Detroit area, July 24 to 27.  Yes, that's opposite the National Storytelling Network conference,…

eBook on Storytelling & Adult Learning

Sheherazade Manual or 1001 Stories for Adult Learning might just interest many of us.  It's definitely an international production, including storytelling projects from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the U.K.  While the editors aren't members of P.S., I know it includes some of our members as I recognized…

Scam Targets Performers

I posted this on Michigan  -- a website I maintain, but this is bigger than just Michigan.

Scam Alert Targeting Performers with Websites

(The company is unnamed here as there may be more than one.  Wouldn't want to have a slander problem either, but the method deserves mentioning for the safety of my fellow performers)

Storytellers and possibly other performers are being targeted…

This Could Be Any of Us

Recently a few spammers contacted members, asking to be emailed back for something "of interest to you."  They were quickly removed as soon as it was known.  I asked new member, Tom Doty, if I could post this for him so you don't think he's spamming.  I've known Tom for many years through the email list, Storytell. He's definitely a long time Professional Storyteller -- 33 years sharing native stories.  Look at …

The More We Use P.S. . . .

This site's all about networking & sharing storytelling ideas.  New members join all the time.  Check when some join...and welcome them!

Use the search box to find people nearby or topics of interest.

View Group discussions, membership's only to participate.  _You_ can start a group.  Invite others with a similar interest to join it.  It need not be in English either.

The more we use this site, the more valuable it becomes.  It also increases your internet presence...and…

History as seen by the 'average' person

At the risk of "shameless self-promotion", my Jan. blog at <> about "History as seen by the 'average' person" is an idea that might appeal to some of us as we have two related groups, The Civil War and also By the…

Great Resources for Freelance Storytellers

Heads Up if you are telling as a freelance storyteller!

I'm a member of Freelancers Union & definitely recommend it for a variety of reasons (continuing ed., insurance, & other resources).  They currently have a Twitter discussion about independent workers not getting paid – how to avoid getting stiffed by clients, what to do if it happens to you, and how we can work together to protect each other.  Did you know…

Puppets Beyond Professional Storyteller

I just posted on my other blog at Storytelling + Research = LoiS "Let Puppets Tell Your Story."  It's part of a workshop I'll do at the end of the month for my local puppeteers guild's Day of Puppetry.  That blog post & some of the information on my website, ,  may interest folks here as it's definitely puppetry from the storyteller's… Continue

Looking Beyond

There's a need for social networking among the storytelling family beyond here. My own state of Michigan has seen paid opportunities for storytelling, its storytelling groups, & even our state's population decline. While a Group could easily be started here (international groups are very active here), not everyone loving storytelling in Michigan feels comfortable on a network aimed at the "Professional Storyteller" even though this network welcomes beginners to storytelling. For that reason… Continue
