I am looking forward to this! A well known landmark home is doing a fundraiser and will be offering storytelling and a candlelight tour for the season.
The lovely Overholser Mansion in OKC (
http://www.overholsermansion.org/) will be the setting. It will start in the Carriage House and go through the house. Four story sessions over a two evening period.

I love October...the crunchy leaves, the chilly nights...and the drama and imagination of Halloween. I was one of those little kids that lived in dress-up clothes, tripped around in her mothers heels and should have won an Oscar at some point in Kindergarten for my stellar performance of Little Red Riding Hood.
I am also an American Celt...no I have no real language and the major customs but there were a bunch of Celts in my family tree. Despite the lack of language and a loss of many customs..…

The administration has given a green light to develop a storytelling course to be offered to the community and that can also be taken (with additional activity and costs) as an elective by students.
I would love to hear recommendations for 'textbooks', great resources, online video samplings, and anything else.

A group of storytellers in Oklahoma is currently at work putting together plans for several storytelling programs around themes. It is exciting working out the program, planning promotion, and working on ways to 'spin-off' into CD's, DVD's and books. Advice welcome!!

I know there is a lot of talk at this time of the year about people being afraid to offfend by wishing people a "Merry [fill in the blanks]" or a "Happy [fill in the blank]" - but seriously who can be offended when someone wants to share a smile, or a helping hand or a positive thought? That is really what is behind the seasonal greetings. A message that says, "Hey, at this time of the year I enjoy a special belief that has all of these good things attached to it; like love, hope, concern, patie…

OKLAHOMA TELLERS :
"Sometimes people decide, "Hey, let's get somebody to tell stories!" They often have no clue as to what is needed in presenting a quality storytelling experience. The first question to ask is "why do I want a storyteller?" Having a clear rationale will help you convey exactly what you need from the storyteller and…

I am working with the state storytelling group and a local university to produce a Tellabration this November. It should be fun in a newly rennovated auditorium. Telelrs are local tellers who are sure to charm the target audience: Kathryn Thurman, Chester Weems, and Molly "Molly Lou Belle" Lemmons. I will MC and serve as emergency space filler, as needed. Check out other Oklahoma events at www.territorytellers.org
