All I can say is that Florida StoryCamp is almost here! Almost here! almost here.... I am exhausted before it even starts. As the assistant camp director the last few days are hectic and there are always last minute changes that happen. I finally got the program done for camp early this morning and now off to the printer. We have some great tellers this year Michael McCarty, Molly Catron, Kuniko Yamamoto, Michael Parent and Sandy Walker. What fun we will have learning at their feet and listening to their tales.
As I typed that program I suddenly remembered AARRGGG I am teaching a workshop at camp Vocal Pyrotechnics: Effective Use of the Voice and I haven't even checked my files to see if I wanted to change anything. Having done this workshop many times I am not worried about presentation, but making sure that all my information is updated and correct. I hate to appear anything less than professional when I present a workshop. Now top that off with an email that says you have been selected to tell on Sunday morning Stories from the Heart, please keep your story to ten minutes. AAAAARRRRGGGG again I say to myself now what. Personal stories are something new to my repertoire and I haven't had time to even practice once because of all the last minute details of preparing for camp.
As I try to sneak in a nap the phone rings again for the twelfth time and the voice on the other end says, "and one more thing...." Yes one more thing, and one more thing, and one more thing. I still have to put together folders and one more thing. Don't get me wrong I love everything about camp, but as relaxing as camp is once it gets started I need a vacation from camp. When camp ends my children begin spring break....maybe I will get a break when they go back to school.
For all of those coming to Florida's StoryCamp, it is going to be lots of fun and there are lots of great people to meet. Make sure you stop by and see me. You know the one with the wild black hair, the dark circles under her eyes and muttering something incoherent like; and one more thing, and one more thing and one more thing we want you to be camp director in 2010. AAARRRRGGG!
See you at StoryCamp,
