In the morning, on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 7:00 a.m. CST, I head into surgery. I am undergoing a hysterectomy after several years of struggles. The past few months have been hellish, privately dealing with extreme pain and hemorrhaging due to fibroids, and precancerous cells. I explored several non-surgical alternatives but after great discussion with my doctor and my family, we decided this was the best course for me. I am not nervous about the surgery - more about the recovery! I have scheduled six weeks off for my recuperation. I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this time. Thank you to my community of storytellers!

During the next week, I will probably not be online very often (though I was told there is WiFi in the patient rooms and I am bringing my laptop!). If you would like to send a "snail mail" note, I'd love to hear from you! Send notes to:

Hi Diane,

I add my best wishes to those above - and I've already sent them to you by private email. I hope and trust that the operation went well, and you are recovering now.

Have a lovely Christmas, resting up and with your family surrounding you!

To your good health!

Best Wishes,

Hi Diane, You have the best reason to face this standing right beside you in the picture. I am sure Eliana wants her Mom back to herself and feeling ready to take on the world with her. You are already doing a Great Job!!! of showing her how to be an independent and successful woman. This is something else she can learn, how to step back and take care of one self and how to take time gracefully and she will also see the miracle of friendship as your circle of friends bring well wishes to you. All these things I have been learning as I care for my daughter and parents this winter. It is the miracle of friends that has made us the strongest, the gift of that friendship is one we have never fully witnessed and it is so amazing. May you be blessed with the quick recovery and a multitude wishing it your way!

Dear Dianne,
I just read your posting about your surgery, and I want you to know that I am thinking of you, and sending you all the healing energy I can summon for a positive outcome and good healing. You are very brave to be doing this, and after enduring so much pain, you are right to do what it takes so that you can live life to the fullest. My mother-in-law went through a similar ordeal and surgery some years ago, and it really changed her life for the better. I am so glad that she acted in her own defense, and I am glad that you are doing the same; you deserve to live life without pain, bleeding, and fear of cancer! The recovery takes some time, do be gentle and understanding with yourself. Soon you will be able to be the best Dianne that you can be, without hurting. Blessings and healing to you and your lovely daughter (I have an 8-yr old girl, too, so fun!), who will be so glad that her Mommy will finally be getting better.
