Ramadan Bell

It’s a story happened before more than 80 years .. were people in villages
think and live simply than now.. many of village in Jordan have both
communities Christian and Muslim sharing the same land, sky and water.. most of
them celebrated each other Holy days and nights
One of those village were Alrafeed in the south of Jordan
As all the villagers , people work in land .. and the best days for them is
when its raining..
Ramadan the month of fast comes on that year in winter.. The Holy days and
Ramadan does not come in the same every year at Muslim’s.
In Muslim culture they used the Hijri year(Islamic year) its belong to
 Lunar cycle
Its winter.. and Ramadan, muslim people were fasted.. from the Dawn to

The Imam of the mosque calling them to begin the fast at the dawn and calling them again the dusk to stop fasting and take their male..
Al villagers used to gathered at one house after taking their food ..
sharing sweets, hot drink and talking about the rain and their agriculture..
One night of Ramadan ..
the Imam of mosque were sick… he stayed many days and nights at his home can
not call the Fasting people at the dawn or the dusk
In that night they talk about Imam illness, As the priest in .. and
about their suffering of fasting.. because they cant eat until it comes
completely night as they can know when the dusk begin as the Quran saying..
Suddenly , an idea comes to one of young villager, he turned to the
Priest who used to stay up with his villagers, and asking him: our priest, why
you didn’t ring the bell of church at dusk as our Imam is sick to stop our
fasting ?
Everyone praised the idea.. so the priest said: I will passed by the
Imam and re initiated him if I can do it
Next day the priest visit the Imam to reassure his health.. and telling
him the suggestion
The Imam welcomed the
idea and thanks the priest if he can ring the bell for the villagers, as it was
so cold and he still sick
for many days until regained its health, people in Alrafeed stop their
fasting when they heared the church bell ring..
This Bell is still ringing above the Church, not in Alrafeed. But here
in Amman, tells people Muslim and Christian his story with people in that far
village ..

Great Story!!, i can imagine the situation, here in México similar things happen because of the strong people´s believes, and religious depth I think that as people continue to have a spiritual and transcendental duty their soul will stay sensible and humanized (if you know what i mean), that´s what give us hope.

Thanks for sharing the story, and thanks or translating it, I appreciate that effort, your pics look awesome!!

What a wonderful story Rabeea!  Even more wonderful that it's true!  I  have told some of my storytelling  friends who work in inter-religious dialogue about it.
