I'm asking for your help and collective wisdom. You all know what is going on in my part of the world. Obviously we are running around reaching out with the power of story in shelters. But we can do much more, so we feel. This led us to the possibility of broadcasting on the national radio and we have a way in. This choice is better than broadcasting on the internet for these reasons:
-Most people are religiously listening to the radio in times of crisis.
-The internet requires infrastructure that in some places does not exists, especially not on the other side of the border.
-We have no access to Arab speaking storytellers. The radio has Arab speaking broadcasters we can cooperate with. Their voice can be carried to far distances in the Arab world and with a much bigger impact than the net.
This is my request: stories that are suitable for this time. They can not be nice and lovely stories with a sweet nature. They have to be relevant to what people feel right now but with a window to what one can do for the future. Some form of sense making. Stories for a strong spirit. "The bird that fought war" is a good example. Laura's collection is a good example. We have more and we are looking for more of any culture.
The stories will be broadcasted as is. No "lesson" will be attached to them.
I'm sending you my deep gratitude in advance.
