I'm not quite ready to make my own sauerkraut, but I did learn the secret of my own grandmother's sauerkraut from prowling online recipes. When I added brown sugar I recognized the taste of my childhood when 1 Thanksgiving dinner I ate it until I was sick. Didn't turn me against it, just made me a bit more careful about pigging out on it.
