What are you doing for World Storytelling Day?

Do you have an event planned for World Storytelling Day, March 20, 2009? Or an event in March which COULD be a WSD event?

The theme for 2009 is "Neighbours"

The website is at http://www.freewebs.com/worldstorytellingday/

The facebook group is at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7117926965&ref=ts

and the logo (thank you Mats!) is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Wsdmatslarge.gif

If you have events planned, email them to me, and I will start putting them up online.

Yes, there are photos on the website, feel free to use them if you are putting together an application. As well, there is a history of the day on the site and on wikipedia at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Storytelling_Day

If you are putting together a proposal, program, or press release, the history is a good way to show that it is a global event.

You could also use the WSD logo (giving credit to Mats Rehnman, who designed it).

Hi. Thanks, Dale. I wasn't looking for funds from any world-wide fund provider, but just some ideas from people who have done it before, on what sorts of places you would look for funding, and what your application would look like - that sort of thing.

Basically, also anything that would give an application credibility - for instance, are there any photos online, or reviews of previous events that I could include in an application?

Cheers,

Hi Kathy, there are no funds that I know of for the event, specifically, aside from what you might be able to get from your own arts agencies. Having said that, most of the events are not big, expensive events. A lot of local groups simply organize an event, tell stories based on the theme, and charge admission (or not). There are no fees to use the name/logo for World Storytelling Day, so your event can be as big or as little as you want or need it to be!

Hi Dale. I had intended to do something, but I asked for help and advice a couple of months ago from you or anybody, on the "Events" page - about applying for funds. I asked if you had any resources or ideas we could use when applying for funds. I received no replies at all, so haven't gone ahead. I don't know if there is still time to plan something or obtain funds.

Cheers,
