Hi, Clare! Thanks for being a friend!
OK, I may not be touring the States any time soon, but I am certainly having a blast discovering the Dublin underground arts scene - sometimes literally underground, e.g. the Reptile Cabaret in the basement in Shebeen Chic - where there is a warm welcome for storytelling among people who have no prior idea what I am about.
And it's getting to a point where people approach me saying: You're the storyteller I saw in such-and-such a place a few months ago.
Some time soon, the number of new places for storytellers to perform in this town will be countless, and I'm looking forward to seeing you perform at some of them. :-)
Your fan,
Coilín.

Claire, Thank you for the invitation. I love your group of photos. I see that you have one with Lyn Ford, ?taken in Hawaii? Enjoy Ohio. Lake Erie College is a long way from us down here in South Western Ohio. Maybe you will be in our area again, and have more open to the public venues. I would love to see you perform. Maybe someday I could get to your country, I would love that.
I know that Ohio is loving your work!!! Have a great time here!

Dear Clare
Thank you for sharing your gift of Storytelling. Tonight was magical. A wonderful audience, hung on your every word. You are so easy going, beautiful spirit and presence. What a joy to watch.... Happy travels. Be safe, be free.

Dear Clare,

I must add a little PS as comment on my own message: "It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult." (Seneca)

One more hug :-)

Dear Clare,

please forgive my late answer! I finally found the tranquillity to watch the DVD about your community storytelling initiative and the international night of tales in Galway, I also reheared your presentation of the project in Lausanne that I have recorded. I am so touched, so enthusiastic about this project! I saw beautiful, self-confident pride people on stage, big storytelling talents who shared their gifts with their colleagues and with the audience - it is simply incredible if one knows in which circumstances they live as "asylum seekers". I felt so much power and warmth and sense of community when listening to them and watching them on your DVD, it is really moving! And it is such a good show - I imagine the amount of work they all invested together with you. A big big big compliment for this work to you Clare, and your storytellers! This is really a project that should serve as a model. Now I ask myself a lot of questions, like about how much experience in storytelling and community work and how much kowledge about the different cultural backgrounds would be necessary to do a similar project. Thank you for sharing this great experience at FEST in Lausanne, Clare, and thanks for sending me the DVD! A big hug, Birgit

Claire, So sorry that I have not been to P. Storyteller in a long time. You invited me as a friend, and I have not replied. I would like to invite you as my friend, and hopefully you have had patience with me.
I communicate with Sofia Maul, she wrote an article for the tandem book I edited, soon to be published. I was delighted to hear of her new daughter, and see the joy in her words. It was through Kevin Cordi's article in Storyteller that I first saw your picture, and read about the story you and Sofia performed together.
I see below that you did some work with Lyn Ford. Isn't she wonderful! We are both Ohio storytellers, and were in the same troupe in the early '90's.
I know you are involved in many wonderful storytelling activities. I will very much enjoy keeping up with your success. Jonatha Wright

Hi, Clare! Still on and off the road, then on again. Just getting settled in from the closings of Atlanta's airport terminal due to the huge rainstorms. Took a day and a half to get home! I've worked evey week since we had our wonderful storytelling fun at the Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival. Miss you much. Loved working with you! Someday, we must do that again!!!

Dear Clare,

thanks fo sending me the DVD - I'm really looking forward to receive it! I share your thoughts in your last comment about FEST - I think it is really important - and I will try - to stay in contact with the other storytellers and informed about their activities although as you admit it is not always easy besides our everyday life. (Seems also that we will also have to join facebook, don't you think/fear so?) And I hope I will be able to motivy the Austrian community to work closer together, at least to found a kind of association that enables them to participate in the international FEST community. I think you are a perfect stool pigeon :-)) Thanks! By the way I hope you also like me new photo, as I just changed it. Yours are great, I love especially those with the puppets.
All the best, my dear,
Birgit

Thanks Clare, I'm working on getting it out there.
I tried the Galway film festival but no luck, I think Eddie Lenihan has been seen on screen a lot over there. It is going to be in a film festival in Coloragdo though so maybe some interest will be generated from that.
Best and thanks

Dear Claire,

Saying Hi from Co. Cavan. New to storytelling but am in love with the writing and the telling. Last did some telling at the Earth Song Festival outside Mulligar. Was In Galway with my partner Bee doing some readings at a local writing evening. Loved Galway. Blessings Tony

Hello again Clare Muireann,

We did indeed meet at Cape Clear, maybe the year after next I'll be back.

I plan on being at my latest grand neice's Christening in May of 2010. That's

in Jersey in the Channel Islands

I was at a wonderful seminar in Hagerstown Maryland USA with Bob

Wilhelm. There were seven of us . I'd love to start a branch of his School of

Sacred Storytelling in Toronto. I did tell in Russia when I went up the Volga

on a boat. I went to Russia with a group called Classical Persuits. We saw all

sorts of museums and art galleries and churches. Telling Tolstoy's "The Three

Hermits" on the MS Tolstoy was somewhat weird.

I was given a book "An Encyclopedia of Irish Folklore and Humour. The Lilt

of the IRISH" by Henry D Spalding and am enjoying it very much. Perhaps I'll

have some more Irish tales to tell when next I'm in that dear dear country! I

feel Toronto needs more laughter.

Dear Clare,

thanks for your sunny wishes. I tanked up enough solar power in Lausanne
to cope with the current rain in Vienna. Wish you the same for Ireland. And don't forget, I still owe you a cup of tea :-)

All the best,
Birgit

Hello Clare

Lovely to hear from you. The Big Story is www.thebigstory.co.uk.

I believe it is Nathalie who is doing the report though she may well benefit from your erudition. Do you want to follow up with her or will I?

It would be great to get something together soon. I am also happy to contribute to the report.

All the warmest

Alexander
