Thank you for the warm welcome! You are most certainly welcome to check out past issues of LE RACONTEUR on the Storytellers of Canada - Conteurs du Canada website at sc-cc.com My first issue will not show up on these pages for a few months, but past editors have been amazing!
I'm excited about this international ring, and hoping to 'spread the word'... possibly in the next issue of LE RACONTEUR....
Merci for your warm words of welcome. I have been saying "Laissez les bons temps rouler" all day. Well, that and Joyeux Halloween of course!
Do you tell in English and French or English and Spanish?
I am very excited by what this ring has to offer. It's like a dream come true. A real international conference online.
Thank you Dianne,
As a folklorist I'm ocupied mostly with folktales from all over the world. I teach folklore in Ben Gurion University including an academic workshop of storytelling. I know limor very well and we join the same supporting group of storytellers. I made a lot of work on Arab folktales and I use traditional folktales as an instrument for understanding between Israelies and Palestinians. You can read more in the English part of my site.
all the best,
Thanks for your message, I am not teaching at the moment, I'm Head of the English Dept. in a bilingual school in Buenos Aires. I believe storytelling can work magic inside any class! so we have weekly Storytelling periods from Kider 5 up to 4th forms and I can tell you that these are the students' favourite periods!
Thank you very much for your comment. I have already come across your work and have found it very inspirational. I few years ago I looked at using storytelling in English language teaching but never did anything about it. This year with the theatre work ticking over nicely I had time to develop something new. I went back to storytelling and traditional stories and began researching storytelling on the internet. I have been totally thrilled and inspired by what I have found. I have now got a regular once a month session in the local library and a few sessions in primary schools over the next eight months. It's been a fantastic start, I'm so excited about it all and I'm glad to be a member of professional storyteller. Serena x
Thanks for the positive comments about my new book. Please know that you continue to be an inspiration to storytellers everywhere. The positive manner in which you share with us all is appreciated. You can't believe how much money I have invested over the last year on storytelling books as I did research to take my own work to a higher level. Yours will be on my "to buy" list when I get caught up with the ones that just came in from my last order. Do you have any particularly good books on storytelling that you would like to recommend in addition to your new book?
Mike Lockett, "The Normal Storyteller"
Just and Idea. I have noticed that a lot of the Storytellers, including yourself, have published books and CDs. (ohh how I wish I had the money to buy them all, and that my wife would let me) It might me nice if you could make a page that folks could list their publications, like the Photo or Video pages. And Set up some categories like Compilations, Biz, Coaching, etc. It would be good for networking, marketing, it would inspire, and it would help me convince my wife to let me buy more books.
As I said, Just a Thought
Thanks again for creating this site
Daniel Bishop, the Storyteller
I think I am just about as excited as you. I will buy the book... but I want my own autographed copy. For my collection... I will wear one out... but keep my autographed copy pristine. You have to sign one for me. Period. Nothing else will work.
