I will be performing near Palm Beach, Florida on Dec. 3 with my interfaith group:
Keeping Faith: Sisters of Story. (see photo below) If anyone is near there let me know or...if you think you may have another gig just for me...telling Jewish stories, please reply to this message or: Susan@susanstone-storyteller.com Also Feb 12 in Hartford, CN. Thank you!
Hi Marc, I had not gone to the tandem group for awhile. I have been too busy editing and publishing my book on tandem: "Team Up! Tell In Tandem!" As to your July question. Yes, my husband and I have done some gender bending in our tandems. The best example is my becoming many of the young boys in our stories. I also am sometimes a male monster. It works well, and is fun to do. It also allows us to choose stories that have more than two people easier. Hope you are still giving this a try. How is it? Nice to meet you. Jonatha Wright
Thank you for the message. Yes, the 'exact' picture is always in the eyes of the beholder and different people interprate what is going on in different ways. Just like in storytelling, what plot will be presented out of the entire narrative is the role of the teller and what he or she think their audiences want to hear. The media does not really tell a story, it is not balanced within a responsiable form. What would "balanced" be? the same ammount of footage? the same themes? the media in general does not seek to present the ins and outs of events. It looks for strong fast drama, use and discard.
Cest la vie. Sabbat Shalom, Limor.
I'm very excited to connect with other storytellers interested in Jewish storytelling.. While I tell many kinds of stories, Jewish tales are definitely my passion. - can't wait for the discussions to begin!
Thank you Marc,
I come from a Spanish-Jewish famely and part of my repertoire are stories that I heard from my mother. I collected many stories from traditional storytellers from many places - Yemen, Iran, Afghnistan and so on. We have an academic archive of folktales with about 24.000 stories from Jewish, Arab, Druse and other groups in Israel.
Recently my friend Prof. Dan Ben Amos began a project of 5 volumes of Jewish stories from the archive "Folktales of the Jews" Two volumes are already printed. you can write to me directly email@example.com if you want to here more.
all the best
Hi! I was thinking during the day - I pick my daughter up from school at 3:30 and then head home to prepare for Shabbat. I know what you mean about negotiating the Shabbat dinner idea! It would be great to see about future possibilities after we meet the first time. I can come to Columbia - how about at about 10? Does that work for you?
Hi Marc! I hope you had a great
Simchat Torah! I loved watching my daughter wave her hand-made flag and dance with us! I have performed at Tellabration but it has been a few years. I actually meant to tell Diane that I would do a kids story this year (I have done adult stories there in the past) but I kept forgetting to tell her, and I'm positive by now all the spaces are filled but I will check with her anyway. Are you performing for the children or adults? Now that my daughter will be 4, I will bring her, but then I will probably have to leave before the adult tellers. I hope I will get to see you perform! I have never made the 4th at 4. It is our family time and I often work at Religious Schools Sunday morning and usually take the rest of Sunday to be with my husband and daughter (when my hubby isn't working) and just take a break. Can we pick a date in December to get together and just put it on the calendar now? I know that's far ahead but with my daughter in school part-time, I need to plan things in advance! I look forward to meeting at Tellabration!
Hello! Thanks for writing! I would love to hear you perform. Let me know if there is anytime/place where I can see you tell stories. It would be great to just meet to chat at some point! Have a meaningful and easy fast.
What a great site PS has become and what a great community of tellers. Forgive me for being so late in greeting you. My heart decided to throw a little surprise party at the emergency room... not a heart attack just Pericarditis (non-lethal... only painful condition). I am recovering nicely, was able to go ahead and get married and move. So you might forgive my late greeting. Hope you join some of the groups... mine will pick back up as I get more settled into our new routines. Anyway... welcome to PS and I hope you learn to love it and this wonderful collection of tellers as much as I do.
