Hi Rachel

Does that include events where we are telling stories to school age youth? If so we have a couple coming up in November.

To be added to the YES! website, they would need to be focused more on youth tellers. Though you are welcome to add what you are doing to connect with youth and share in this discussion.

The Three Rivers Storytelling Festival (August 8 & 9) at Northland Library in Pittsburgh features youth storytellers as part of regular festival programing. Each youth teller is given a 5 minute slot before one of the featured tellers on Saturday (warm-up act for featured tellers in essence.) Youth tellers come from various youth storytelling groups in the Pittsburgh area (last year, half were from my Logos group - of course since I coordinate the youth tellers program at the festival I promote this heavily among the kids in my troupe.) This is our third year featuring youth tellers, and we are expanding the program to also feature youth tellers at the start of the Friday and Saturday evening concerts. Our tellers have ranged in age from 7 to 17 - and our featured tellers have always been great about meeting the kids and sharing their time slots with them. Anyone interested in more info or in participating should contact me at alanirvine@aol.com.

This is really important as there need to be storytelling opportunities for young tellers & also for youth to see that there are such opportunities. The YES! website has a section listing such events that needs to grow to where it shows what's happening all over the country & all over the calendar. It can't happen unless we know about it.

Alan's listing of the Three Rivers Festival & Rachel's mention of the Frontier StoryFest are there right now & I'm adding the Michigan Storytellers Festival as soon as I have the full facts. If you know about any festivals where youth can tell, please let us know.

P.S. Don't forget the YES! Preconference will include a great youth concert:
YES! Kids Koncert - Wednesday, August 6, 4:30-5:30 pm

Embrace the talent that comes from elementary schools to high schools as kids from the Southeast Region perform. Admission is free though you may encourage youthful voices as they discover the power of story by donating after the concert ($5/person is suggested).
