Anything worth the popcorn lately?

Since it's Oscar night, I thought I'd throw out the question--heard any good stories in your movies lately? This year I discovered two gems--Pan Labyrinth and The Water Horse.

Definitely the Batman Begins sequel. What is it...the Dark Knight? Can't wait. Probably the only one I'll fork out to view in theaters. Okay, MAYBE the Indy Jones sequel, but it has an uphill climb against grand expectations. You?

The movie Big Fish is several years old now, but I liked it very much. It's a story about a storyteller, his stories, and his relationship with an adult son.

I also thought Stardust was a beautifully done movie with good acting that appealed to me because of its fantasy and fairy tale elements.

The critics didn't give either of these movies high marks, but I often differ from the critics. Mimi

I know one of the giants in "Big Fish". Remember the giant from the circus who could swallow fire? His name is George MacArthur, though he is known as "George the Giant".

His brother, Terrence MacArthur, is a professional storyteller and great friend of mine from the Central Valley of California.

All the MacArthurs are performing artists--from ventriloquists to magicians to storytellers to dare devils. They are a riot! :)

Until we tell again,

I LOVED Iron Man! My brother was a DC and Marvel comic book fan so I grew up with these stories. Iron Man is no Oscar winner but it was a very entertaining movie. Robert Downey Jr. was brilliant. I can't wait for the sequel!

Warmly,
Dianne

Kung Fu Panda......a delight! I saw a trailer a few months ago and had no desire to see it. Jack Black was even in my town-Passaic (doing a movie that flopped) but Kung Fu Panda didn't look appealing. Then I saw a review---changed my mind. Convinced my family-who also had no desire to see it---I convinced them to see it.

We laughed through out the entire movie. Fun to look at, fun to listen to, and a sweet surprise if you wait until after the credits. RW

Did anybody see the director's interview for Pan's Labyrinth? It was truly inspiring as he discussed his views on myth. What was particularly interesting to me was his statement that the English title is wrong. It should be the Labyrinth of the Fawn. He said: "Pan would have been far too dangerous a character for a little girl to deal with.

Has anyone seen "The Fountain" by Darren Aronofsky?
