Buck P Creacy

Hear Ye Hear Ye

I have got some good news for everyone working on their promo kits and marketing packages. In the next few days there will be a flurry of documents loaded to this site... samples and examples of the various components of a promo pack and then some ideas about how to not send too much and still get your message across.

All of this information was gathered this weekend and I was urged to share it with you, by the workshop leaders. So I am going to do that.

Okay Gang here are my new Bios

I also am uploading some new pictures and posters...

But here is something to consider as you put together your press kits that you mail to your really interested contacts. They are too expensive to mail to just anyone out there in the world

1. Photos - several B&W and Color publicity photos, and a variety of poses
2. Bios - I have four, one is really long about 600 words, 300, 250 and 100 words make up the other three.
3. News, magazine articles, press releases, public service announcements - I have one magazine article and that's about it.
4. Promotional Flyers and mailing pieces - I have a brochure and one kinda nifty postcard.
5. Audio, video, DVDs - these need to be broadcast quality, cause they might be used for commercials and promotions
6. Any past reviews and letters of recommendation - only include the most recent and prestigious... don't bury them with paper.
7. Be sure to include something about your repertoire - if your repertoire is varied, include a list of descriptions of the various available shows
8. Fee Information - No matter what anyone else tells you. It is helpful information that the promoters want to know, they have a budget, give them a range of fees if that is at all possible.
9. Touring Information - if you can only tour 24 days of the year... you need to let the promoters know that so they can work with their calendars efficiently.
10. Contact information - put it on every single thing you have, photos, posters, cards, postcards, bios, news releases, brochures, website, labels of your CDs, and DVDs, your flyers... put your contact information on the bottom of your emails. Most email programs allow you to automatically insert a "signature" at the bottom of your emails.

Okay here is some of my stuff, bios, pictures, and such.

These are great I really like the smaller inset photo. The train tracks made me think of Arlo Guthrie, and an old TV movie "A Hobo's Christmas." I can see that my initial goal of getting good photographs is the most important right now. Until I have quality photos the rest is going to look drab. A fancy font cant speak the thousand words of a photo. Carolyn

The new version of Photoshop CS3 is absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. You just can't imagine until you get and play with it. It is so flexible and with just a bit of work... you can make a silk purse from a sow's ear like my pictures in no time... ha ha
