Profile Information

About Me:
I left my home in Philadelphia, in 1977. I spent 4 years travelling around Great Britain alternatively working as a lighting technician in the theater, then singing & writing songs while living in a 3 1/2 ton truck. I then spent 1 1/2 years travelling around India & Nepal- explored the Himalayas on a motorbike and on foot, spent time in a monastary, then got a job singing at the Yak & Yeti Hotel. I settled in France in 1983, where I pursued a career as singer-songwriter, percussionist, recorded 5 albums with my own group as well as participating in recordings for other artists.
It was thanks to my musique that I was able to travel and meet so many people & see so many different cultures. Troubador to story-teller became a logical step.
In 2002, I started meeting story-tellers, and, since then- it has become a real passion. I have been developing my own story-telling activities since 2003. I created several of my own shows as well as participating on projects with other story-tellers. I joined a collective of 17 story-tellers based in Paris in 2004.
I enjoy using instruments from different cultures as well as songs to illustrate my stories. I tell stories in both English & French.

Salut, Sharon!

Je m'adore "Professional Storyteller" et vous serez amuse'e ici aussi.

Je comprend un peu de francais mais je suis triste que j'ai oublie'e beaucoup des mots.

D'accord. L'englais maintenant.

It must be nice to be a bilingual storyteller. I have learned a bit of Arabic to tell a story though I have not thought to mix some French with some of my tellings. I may be afraid that if I did, my French high school teacher would be in the audience and shaking her head at the pronunciation.

Since you tell in French and English, have you ever thought to have two options on your website for French and English? I'm guessing that French is your main language for storytelling (besides gestures, facial expressions, etc.).

Until we tell again,

Rachel Hedman

Yes, too much or too little - seems to be pervasive, doesn't it?

Your English is fine, so, please do not worry about that. You should hear my French! (you don't really wanna hear a bunch of Texas folks speaking French - I'm certain there are some who can do it, and do it well . . . but . . . I've just never read about'em . . . or met'em . . . or heard'em . . . or heard about'em . . . or seen'em....)

I look forward to your settling down and getting back with us, as you're able.

Sincerely,

Tom

Hello, Sharon, and Welcome!

Your history and background read like a script for a proposed adventure series! THAT, in itself, is a wonderful story ...

Even so, I'm betting you've not come across a more beneficial site for tellers than this one - it is truly wonderful. A great place to post your audio/video/pics
and written material.

There are LOTS of awesome tellers from all over the place, great opportunities to share your views, seek and share counsel, etc. Check out (and it takes some time to do this) the Main Page, Tellers, Photos, Video, Forum, Groups - it pays big dividends.

If I may assist you along the way, please, don't hesitate to contact me; if I can't help you, I can probably find a friend who can.

Thank you for joining this site, brainchild of Dianne de Las Casas (who's done us all a great favor!), I am glad you're 'here' - and, again, Welcome!
