Hi Diane, First Thanks! between all the help this site provides me in my storytelling and now the NSN magazine with such good articles, you are everywhere I turn. I have been working on and e-newsletter so that was the first article I read. ( when I should have been out helping with night chores, but they didnt miss me for a few minutes) I am eager to get a newsletter out again. I did one a couple months ago.
QUESTION: Should I do and e-newsletter in regular script of email, in word or in Publisher? I had started in publisher but then thought maybe people who dont have publisher wont be able to open it. I like the idea of adding other bits from our lives as we are not just storytellers and some other facets may be interesting to people. Some may get us a job as theylearn we have background in another area. Like I do a lot of work with rescue animals, may interest an animal league.
Do you ever add pictures or do they take up to much mailbox?
Last night I picked up a memo notebook and put it in my purse to start collecting email addresses, thats a great tip!
I looked at Yahoo would sarting a Yahoo group be the best way to do a newsletter through yahoo. Wow there are 403 storytelling related groups in Yahoo already!
Just a comment; I used to think storytelling was a small community of tellers because I see now our local schools and community groups rehire the same few tellers over and over. With Professional Storyteller I now see the big picture and have made many friends via the site so thank you thank you! Carolyn Stearns

Thank you, Dianne, for your warm welcome. I admire your work very much, too. I've been meaning to join for some time and finally did it after returning from an amazing two week institute on Islam. I'm trying to fill in the blanks - big blanks - re my knowledge of Asian stories/cultures. Another blank is the Philippines, so I'll look to your work for inspiration. All the best and since I know you're busy, no need for quick reply - just when you have a breathing space! warmly, Cathy

Hi Dianne,

I'm glad I m finally managed to find the time to join this site. You have done a great job!

I am no longer involved in the selection of tellers for the festival, but if you are keen to come back to Singapore again, why don't you write to the Book Council, as it is they and not the National Library Board who now run it. Write to regina@bookcouncil.sg.
Good Luck !

Cheers,
Sheila
