Profile Information

About Me:
I tell stories as a way of life. I am only a professional because sometimes people for some reason, give me money. I have a number of tales generally of the Irish Tradition and do programs for all ages complete with printed pages directing those attending to ways to avoid going out of their way for a story that they themselves can tell! I am also a folklorist specializing in seasonal celebrations, the stories, songs and food ways which go with them. I write books and get rid of them one way or another often in response to receiving money. My goal in life is to re-install folk ways and re-distribute the lost luggage of cultural groups which has turned up in my possession. In addition to stories I also do presentations related to the history of recorded sound using my wide range of mechanisms including most Edison phonographs, wire recorder, musical casket....right the way through modern times. Don't tell anyone but I am Santa and provide Santa programs more suited to libraries than to shopping malls with a wide range of Santa lore.

...and I got into this field similarly... I told Greek myths and the like, solo, as a kid but never thought of a career there. Then, as an adult, I had a story that I simply HAD to share, so I rented a hall, put up posters and a press release and... people came! I didn't even charge, but they put money down anyway, and asked when my next show would be. I've yet to run out of tales that move me to sharing them.
I enjoyed your "About Me" and am curious to peruse the books you have to offer.. Are they displayed on-line somewhere?
Peace, Sara

Ocr needs a lot of work but the text is there....and growing a bit. Must find photo of wurtzelman who was dressed up as Jack in the Green out back. Sidewalk replacement excavated a huge sycamore root under the pavement- three bodies intertwined with three heads couldnt toss it out so deressed it up... So much written with may themes...must cut it off after the most important and examples of style are there which may be now....then its back to re wiring my entire web world which appears to be infinite. Still not frost free date here yet- next week so holding off planting must do something to avoid prices...

Thanks....as there is time I will do what can be done. Watch out as my web world is changing. Lots of migration of pages going on - and as that occurs I am updating them. Such a vast internet world I have created over the past 20 or more years. It will take a while but soon things will get organized.... visit Have fun!

Hey, Conrad, Welcome!

This is a remarkable site (but, so is yours!) that I think you will grow to appreciate, as you become familiar with its layout.

Lots of great folks on board, lots of info to absorb, lotsa good ideas, great discussions, groups w/ which to affiliate oneself, etc.

I'm familiar w/ you via storytell list, but look forward to becoming more familiar w/ you and your work - and it sounds remarkably spontaneous and joyous - (and I hope it is) - and I sincerely hope you share some of it with us on this site.

I'll get off now, except to say that I'm glad you're here, lookin' for your input to PS.ning, wishin' you all good stuff, and, again, sendin' the warm Welcome!

Best to ya -

Tom

Hello Conrad, I enjoyed your profile description. Welcome also to the Marketing group... we have been looking at best practices... poke back through the discussions... there might be something useful there or perhaps not. There are lots of groups... Education, Faires, New Media... and more... if you don't find what you need... create your own... let people know and someone will join you. You can also upload your audio files let us hear you tell, share video... there are some pretty funny ones on that page right now. It should be a fairly useful site for you. I love it.

Welcome again
Buck
