The trouble with packing

So we've been packing up our entire house to move ourselves to Oklahoma City where my husband has taken a job teaching and I've decided to stay home with my little Monkey. We realized a few weeks ago that even when the house sells we could find ourselves pretty strapped for cash and Josh has suggested I work at a mother's day out at our church. I suggested that I tell stories instead and Josh decided that would be great. No pressure or anything. So I'm packing my desk and going through some bo… Continue

What am I doing? I HAVE a blog...

Don't expect frequent posts, I'm busy chasing my child- but perhaps I'll lay out a few confused thoughts here every now and again. Would anyone believe that only two years ago I was considering what I might need to do to be a leading member of NSN in my future? Probably not since i haven't been a member for about a year. Want to know why? Well, quite simply, I started at the wrong end of things. I never got the chance to develop my stories (my STORY!) before I dove into the work of an organizat… Continue

Hmm. I'll have to check that out. Yes, some of the major groups are at some distance. Renew your NSN membership. You and I are in the same region and Roger Armstrong in AR is our Regional Director--he will do a good job keeping us together. Our KS State Liason has been great and we have our own Yahoo group. I don't know who your SL is, but in these big spread-out states SL's can really help. Let me do some looking and I'll see what I can find out.

Hi, Chara,
I'm about 5 hours from OKC. What a great place for stories--very active community in Oklahoma.
Just got home from visiting Naomi (2 1/2) and Elijah (7 weeks). I need to catch up on reading everything here.

Hey Chara - Saw your question on Margaret's page - Matt is living in Somerville, MA. I found him on Facebook of all places.

How is the packing?

Hi Chara and welcome. I'm fairly new to the site myself. It's taking me awhile to get used to the in's and out's but I'm really enjoying my time here. Lots of great, wonderful folks.

Hello, Chara, and Welcome!

I got a "does not exist" message when I tried to go to your blogspot site, sorry -

Man, you must've "gotten around" before you burned out, cuz you sure seem to know lotsa folks and vice-versa.

But, as you'll soon discover, storytelling's still here, and your contributions are eagerly anticipated by those who will benefit from your telling - tho, crazy thing, they don't know what impact you're gonna have on them, nor do you know (but I bet you "sense") the impact they'll have on you...and, doncha just love it!

I wish you all success in getting back in the saddle again, so to speak. This site can be a huge benefit to you, as it already has been for well over 300 of us now.

Forgive me, but, as a Paw Paw, I'm bound to share this sentiment: you know that child .. .. .. or those children...living with you. I know it's a hassle (long story short!), and, I know, too, that you know this - but, it happens so fast. Next summer he/she/they is/are 18! And they're leaving home. It'll never be the same. And you can't go back, tho you'll want to (we all do....)_ so, First things First. In the eternal scheme of things, storytelling's gonna be fine with or without you . . . but your children . . . .?

OK, end of Paw Paw's sermon (and my apologies, if I in any way offended you - I assuredly did not mean to) -

Wish you the best in all of it -

Sincerely,

Tom Taylor - Deep in the Heart of Texas

Hi, Chara! So glad to see a picture of Jonah! Life with a child is busy. You'll get back into storytelling soon.

I have two grandchildren, Naomi who is 2 1/2 and Elijah who is 6 weeks old. Naomi has loved to have me tell her stories since before she turned 2, and now her parents tell her stories all the time (since she is in New York and I can't be there all the time).

We should meet somewhere since we are in contiguous states!
Happy, busy days.
